Larry Cheney allowed Frank Chance to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Heinie Zimmerman had 4 hits and 6 RBI at West Side Park as the Pittsburgh
Pirates lost a heartbreaker to Chicago Cubs by the score of 8 to 7.

Chicago won the game with a run in the 9th inning.  Wilbur Good lined a
base-hit.  Zimmerman followed and he doubled.  Johnny Evers then delivered a
single giving Chicago the win as 7,665 happy fans joyfully celebrated.
Chicago banged out 17 hits on the afternoon.  

Cheney(1-1) lasted until the end allowing 7 runs for the win. Sherry
Smith(0-1) took the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 1
and 1/3 innings.  

'I struggled a bit out there today,' Cheney said, 'but I toughed it out and we
got the win.'
