The Cleveland Indians pitchers essentially took the day off at Sportsman's
Park as the St. Louis Browns offense erupted for 24 runs while Bill
James(2-0), with relief help from Dee Walsh, allowed Cleveland 4 runs.

Burt Shotton made sure the St. Louis fans enjoyed themselves.  He laced a
base-knock in the 1st inning, tripled which scored a run in the 5th inning
and delivered a one-base hit plating a run in the 8th inning.  St. Louis lit
up the scoreboard in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits and
the 8th inning with 14 runs on 6 hits.  St. Louis kept the pressure on
throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  

Bill Steen(0-2) was tagged with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11
hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
