Right fielder Doc Cook hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Shibe Park as the New

Athletics by the count of 8 to 7.

New York scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 2 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Cook who
silenced the crowd when he stroked a one-base hit bringing in two
baserunners. New York managed 11 hits in their victory.

The win went to Ray Fisher(1-1) who allowed 5 runs in 8 innings. Cy Pieh
preserved the game for Fisher, recording his his 1st save. Bud Davis(1-1)
was given the loss in relief. He allowed New York 3 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings of work.

Bill Donovan was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win
it in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see the
fans - one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of
unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very
enjoyable win this afternoon!'
