Whitey Lockman cleared three ducks from a very crowded pond with a grand slam
as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates 13 to
10.

Lockman had a good evening at the plate. He delivered a single resulting in a
run in the 1st inning, emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 2nd
inning and ripped a one-base hit in the 4th inning. St. Louis rapped out 12
hits for the night.

Harry Brecheen(4-1) got the win allowing 10 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Brecheen got relief help from Bubba Harris who gained credit for his 5th
save. Early Wynn(0-1) ended up with the loss. He couldn't find the plate,
issuing 5 walks in 2 innings.
