8th inning. Joss stroked a single. Jimmy Slagle stepped up next and he
smacked a single. Slagle took second on the throw. Ollie Pickering then hit
a single scoring the run. Pickering took second on the throw. St. Louis-AL
finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Joss(3-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Togie
Pittinger(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. Doug Hatch was obviously
impressed with the pitching of Joss, 'That guy made us look a little silly
out there this afternoon. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything
was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of
his system.'
