Eddie Stanky then ripped a one-base hit which scored a run. Eddie Joost came up and he reached on an error. Tommy Henrich came up to bat and grounded into a double play. Andy Pafko extended the rally and reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning. Howie Pollet(1-0) got help from Fred Martin who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save.
