Joe Coleman had an impressive outing and left fielder Ralph Kiner left the
yard at Yankee Stadium where the New York Yankees beat the St. Louis
Cardinals 4 to 1.

New York had 2 runs cross the plate in the 4th inning with the help of 3 hits.
It was enough scoring to earn the victory.  New York had a total of 11 hits
for the game.  

Coleman(3-0), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Larry
Jansen(1-2) was hit with the loss.  'Coleman pitched a gem of a game', Pete
Heilig recounted.  'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'
