10,405 fans were treated to a fine game at Crosley Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Philadelphia-NL Phillies won by
the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

The game was won by Philadelphia-NL when they scored a run in the top of the
9th inning.  Al Rosen doubled.  Sibby Sisti got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes.  After another out, Steve Gromek then
ripped a one-base hit scoring the run.  Philadelphia-NL rapped out 9 hits for
the afternoon.  

Gromek(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Al Corwin(0-1) was
given the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 3
hits and no walks.
