Fred Clarke hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates came back to
win one over St. Louis Cardinals, 7 to 4.

Pittsburgh came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning when they scored 4
runs on 1 hit. The biggest moment was provided by Clarke who disappointed
the partisan crowd when he doubled with all three baserunners touching home.
St. Louis had 11 hits in the game while Pittsburgh had 7, but Pittsburgh had
the more timely hits.

Mike Lynch(1-0) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Bill Otey was
credited with his 1st save. The loss was charged to Fred Beebe(0-3).

Clarke was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win it in
your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see the fans
- one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of unprintable
stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win
this afternoon!'
