WEB GEMS- Bot 8th: Otto Miller blocked the plate, saving a run!

In a good matchup it was the Brooklyn Superbas 5, the Boston Braves 2 in 10
innings at South End Grounds.

Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Brooklyn
pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Red Smith led off and got things
going when he delivered a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Smith stole
second with some aggressive base running. Otto Miller dug into the batters
box next, but he struck out. Tex Erwin came up and he was walked
intentionally. Casey Stengel came up to bat and belted a three-run homer.
Brooklyn and Boston each finished the afternoon with 8 hits.

Mysterious Walker(1-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the
victory. Walker got help from Elmer Brown who was credited with his 1st save.
Iron Davis(0-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of
work.
