Bullet Joe Bush reeled off a total of 13 strikeouts and Home Run Baker had 4
hits and 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the New York Yankees by
the score of 8 to 2 at Shibe Park.

Bush(2-0) was tremendous on the mound for Philadelphia.  He surrendered only 4
hits and 4 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.05 to 2.30.
Philadelphia had 16 hits for the afternoon.  

King Cole(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits
and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.  Connie Mack was asked about the
performance of Bush, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon.  The
fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that
seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
