The Cleveland Indians edged the Washington Nationals in 11 innings at
Municipal Stadium by the score of 4 to 3.

The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Cleveland came out the
victor in the 11th inning.  Al Kaline laced a base-knock.  Gene Baker came
next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Clint Courtney then was walked
intentionally.  After another out, Del Ennis came to the plate and delivered
a single making Cleveland the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful.  Washington out-hit Cleveland 12 to 9, but Cleveland ended up with
more runs.  

Paul Lapalme(1-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Pedro Ramos(0-2) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and 1 walk in 1
and 2/3 innings.
