Ned Garvin had an impressive outing at American League Park as the Washington
Senators beat the Philadelphia-NL Phillies by the count of 5 to
0.

Garvin(1-2) was virtually untouchable. He surrendered only 5 hits and no
walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.57. Washington banged out 9 hits on
the afternoon.

Fred Mitchell(0-3) was the loser. Garvin was obviously very pleased with his
performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games
where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched
another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time
out!'
