Chick Stahl had 2 base hits at Polo Grounds where the Cincinnati Reds beat the
New York-NL Giants 5 to 4.

Cincinnati came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning plating 2
runs on 3 base hits. Stahl led off and started the attack as he laced a
one-base hit. Stahl swiped second base. Mickey Doolin then was hit by a
pitch. Mike Donlin was up next and he banged out a single scoring a run.
Johnny Kling stepped into the box and laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out
later, Elmer Flick stepped up to the plate and he was walked intentionally to
load the bases. George Stovall next to the plate and he singled scoring the
final run of the inning. Cincinnati and New York-NL each finished the
afternoon with 10 hits.

The victory went to Ed Siever(4-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Cy
Falkenberg earned the save, his 4th. Bill Bernhard(0-1) was tagged with the
loss in relief.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Doug Hatch said after the game. 'Siever did not have command of
his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
