Danny Hoffman kicked off the action when he cracked a solo homerun. After an out was recorded, George Stone came to bat and reached on an error. Jimmy Williams then doubled bringing in another run. Bobby Wallace was up next and he drew a walk. Hobe Ferris stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases. After another out, Tubby Spencer stepped in and he delivered a single scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. The victory was credited to Rube Waddell(2-1) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs. Bill Bailey was credited with his 1st save. Frank Smith(1-2) was the losing pitcher.
