Smoky Joe Wood was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Washington Nationals outscored the Cincinnati Reds 8 to
4.

Washington set the tone of the game in the first inning as they scored 4 runs
on 3 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Herbie Moran who quieted
the crowd when he slapped a one-base hit which was good for two runs.
Washington had 10 hits for the afternoon.

Wood(2-0) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Hugh Bedient(0-1)
was the losing pitcher. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 7 innings and not
allowing an earned run.
