At Crosley Field, the Cincinnati faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Warren Hacker(1-0) finally bested his New York-AL
counterpart, Art Fowler(0-1), by the score of 2 to 1.

Cincinnati scored 1 run in the decisive bottom of the 7th inning.  After an
out was recorded, Del Crandall hit a bases-empty home run.  Neither team was
able to score until the 6th inning.  

Don Bessent earned the save, his 2nd. Fowler was the losing pitcher.  He
allowed 2 runs and 7 hits in 8 innings.
