Ed Seward had a complete game at Jefferson St Grounds as the Philadelphia
Athletics beat the New York Metropolitans 9 to 6.

New York was unable to claim the lead after Philadelphia went ahead in the
bottom of the 5th inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit.  Philadelphia had a
total of 13 hits for the game.  

The win was credited to Seward(2-1) who went the whole way allowing 6 runs.
John Shaffer(0-4) took the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 9 runs in 8 innings.
