Charlie Hickman had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Boston Americans bested the
Washington Senators 13 to 6 at American League Park.
Hickman was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He stroked a one-base hit in the 1st
inning, delivered a single in the 3rd inning, hit a base-hit in the 5th
inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 6th inning. Boston had 14 hits
for the afternoon.
Bert Husting(1-0) got the win allowing 6 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Jack
Townsend(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 14 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.
