Frank Chance slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI as the Detroit Tigers beat the
Boston-AL Americans by a score of 10 to 9.

Chance helped send the fans home happy.  He lined a base-hit in the 1st
inning, lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 3rd inning and
banged out a single bringing in a run in the 4th inning.  Boston-AL had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.  

Otto Hess(1-1) was the winner allowing 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Ed Walsh
preserved the game for Hess, recording his his 2nd save.  Rube Waddell(2-3)
was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings.
