WEB GEMS- Top 5th: John Kane robbed Ossee Schrecongost of an extra base hit.

First baseman Hal Chase had 4 hits as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies outscored
the New York-NL Giants 7 to 1.

New York-NL was unable to claim the lead after Philadelphia-NL went ahead in
the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. John
Titus led off the inning for Philadelphia-NL when he ripped a one-base hit.
Chase followed and he doubled. John Kane then worked the squeeze play to
perfection bringing in a run. Tom Needham stepped in and he would ground out
scoring the final run of the inning. That was all the offense they were to
need. Philadelphia-NL ended up with 11 hits for the game while New York-NL
had 6.

The victory was credited to Bob Rhoads(1-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Barney Pelty recorded the save, his 3rd. Nap Rucker(1-2) was
charged with the loss.
