In a thrilling finish the Boston-AL Red Sox won in dramatic fashion coming
back to beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the count of 3 to 2.

Boston-AL came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning plating 2
runs on 4 hits.  Sherry Robertson led off and got things going when he ripped
a base-hit.  Cass Michaels followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Johnny Groth then banged out a single.  George Kell was up next and he
doubled driving in a run.  Eddie Waitkus stepped into the box and ripped a
single giving Boston-AL the win much to the delight of the home town crowd.
The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.  

The win went to Hoyt Wilhelm(3-0) who allowed 2 runs in 2 innings. Stu
Miller(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  'We just wouldn't give up,'
Kell said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole
way.'
