Curly Brown(1-1) was on top of his game in Cincinnati as he tossed a beauty of
a no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs. The Cincinnati Reds won by a score of
3 to 0.
Brown was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Redland Field this afternoon! He walked 2 Chicago
batters. The tension built to a fever pitch. After the 8th inning everybody
in the ballpark was anticipating what would happen in the 9th. Cincinnati
managed only 5 hits on the afternoon.
The losing pitcher was Karl Adams(0-2). He gave up only 5 hits and 1 walk in
8 innings. Brown was in a jubilant mood after the game. 'If I'd known I was
going to throw a no hitter I would have gotten a haircut!' he said, much to
the delight of the clubhouse gathering.
