Dave Philley went yard as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cleveland Indians
in 10 innings by a score of 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Finally, St. Louis prevailed in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Philley smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'
making St. Louis the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.  St.
Louis and Cleveland each finished the afternoon with 9 hits.  

Sam Zoldak(1-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Russ
Meyer(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and 1 walk in
2/3 of an inning.
