The Cincinnati Reds registered 4 runs in the 2nd inning and nipped the New
York-AL Yankees 4 to 3 at Yankee Stadium in a hard fought
contest.

Cincinnati scored all of the necessary runs in the 2nd inning scoring 4
runners on 2 hits. That was all the runs Ned Garver(1-1) needed. New
York-AL threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put down the rally.

Preacher Roe recorded the save, his 5th. The loss was charged to Carl
Erskine(3-1). He surrendered 6 hits and 6 walks in 7 innings.

Robert Baker was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
