Ed Cushman went 9 strong innings and catcher Jocko Milligan had 2 base hits at
Washington Park as the Philadelphia Athletics beat the Brooklyn Grays by the
count of 3 to 2.

Philadelphia took the lead for keeps in the top of the 2nd inning plating one
baserunner.  After two were out Henry Larkin reached on an error.  Milligan
stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring the run.  Brooklyn threatened
in the 9th but Philadelphia was able to put down the rally.  

The victory was credited to Cushman(3-1) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Adonis Terry(1-1) was given the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and
surrendered just 7 hits and no walks.

'Our guys just weren't seeing the ball today.' Charlie Byrne said.  'Cushman
simply dominated us.'
