Kid Nichols pitched a complete game and Herman Long had 3 base hits and 2 RBI
as the Boston Beaneaters defeated the Brooklyn Superbas in 10 innings 9 to 7
at Washington Park.

The score was tied at 7 after nine.  Boston was victorious in the 10th inning.
Billy Hamilton got things going when he singled.  Fred Tenney came to the
plate and hit a single.  Tenney was safe on a stolen base.  After an out was
recorded, Long stepped in and he banged out a single, and an error was also
committed, knocking home two runners.  Boston totaled 13 hits on the
afternoon.  

Nichols(2-0) finished the game allowing 7 runs in the victory. Jim Hughes(0-1)
was given the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and 5 walks in
9 and 1/3 innings.
