Addie Joss tossed a complete game and right fielder Spike Shannon had 3 base
hits as the St. Louis-AL Browns bested the Philadelphia-NL Phillies 8 to 1 at
Baker Bowl.

St. Louis-AL took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 3 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Harry Bemis who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled which was good
for two runs.  St. Louis-AL totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.  

Joss(2-0) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. The losing pitcher was
Carl Lundgren(0-1).  He was unable to control the St. Louis-AL offense and
allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.
