George Stone had 3 base hits as the Detroit Tigers pulled out a win over the
Washington Nationals by a score of 8 to 7 at Bennett Park.

The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. Danny Hoffman slapped a
single, and an error was also committed. Bunk Congalton stepped into the
batter's box and he was walked intentionally. John Godwin then ripped a
one-base hit giving Detroit the win and sending the home town fans into a
frenzy. Detroit had 13 hits overall, while Washington had 8.

The win was credited to Ed Walsh(2-1) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run. Earl
Moore(1-3) took the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not
allowing an earned run in his 2 innings of work.
