Ed Karger went 10 solid innings at Exposition Park as the Pittsburgh Pirates
beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings 1 to 0.

No runners had crossed home plate after the regulation nine. Pittsburgh came
out on top in the 10th inning. After two outs Fred Clarke drew a walk.
Honus Wagner followed next and he reached on an error. Jim Nealon then was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Tommy Leach came up and he lined a
one-base hit giving Pittsburgh the victory as 2,647 happy fans celebrated
wildly. Pittsburgh had just 5 hits for the afternoon.

Karger(3-0) went the distance for the shutout. Jack Taylor(0-2) was hit with
the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 and 2/3 innings and not
allowing an earned run.
