One run was the difference at Fenway Park as the Boston-AL Red Sox defeated
the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 4.
Boston-AL brought 2 runs across the plate in the 5th inning. Cincinnati had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Fred Hutchinson(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings.
Hutchinson was helped out by Lou Brissie who recorded his 1st save. The loss
was charged to Vern Bickford(0-1). He gave up 5 runs and 7 hits in 7
innings.
