Jack Chesbro was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and left fielder Fred Clarke had 2 base hits at Exposition Park
as the Cincinnati Reds lost a heartbreaker to Pittsburg Pirates by the score
of 4 to 3.

The game was decided in the 9th inning.  Ginger Beaumont stroked a one-base
hit.  Clarke came to the plate and smacked a single.  Tom McCreery then
ripped a base-knock making Pittsburg the victor and beginning a joyous home
town celebration.  Pittsburg had a total of 10 hits for the game.

Chesbro(1-0) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. The loss was
charged to Doc Newton(0-2).  He surrendered 4 runs and 10 hits in 8 innings.
