Left fielder Hank Sauer smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Fenway Park as the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Red Sox by the count of 11 to 6.

Sauer led the offense for Pittsburgh.  He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st
inning, hit a single which scored a run in the 3rd inning and delivered a
solo blast in the 7th inning.  Overall Pittsburgh out-hit Boston 15 to 6.

The winning pitcher was Billy Pierce(1-1) who allowed 3 runs in 5 innings.
Tommy Byrne(1-2) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around by Pittsburgh,
allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
