Ned Garver went the distance and second baseman Jackie Robinson had 2 base
hits as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Boston-AL Red Sox by a score of 7 to
1 at Fenway Park.

Boston-AL found themselves trailing quickly as the Cincinnati bats came
through in the first inning when they came up with 3 runs on 3 hits.  That
was all Garver(1-0) needed.  Cincinnati banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.

Max Lanier(0-1) was the loser.  He allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 5 and 1/3
