In a one-sided affair the Pittsburgh Pirates batters pounded the New York-AL
Yankees pitchers for 11 runs while Eddie Lopat(1-1)with bullpen support held
New York-AL to 1 run.

New York-AL was unable to climb back into it after Pittsburgh went ahead for
good in the 2nd inning scoring 3 runners on 3 hits.  That early run support
was enough for Lopat and Pittsburgh.  Pittsburgh finished with 15 hits while
New York-AL ended up with 8.  

Virgil Trucks(1-2) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by
