Lady Baldwin whiffed 10 batters as the St. Louis Maroons were badly beaten by
the Detroit Wolverines, 12 to 0.

Charlie Bennett had a big day at the plate.  He doubled which brought home a
run in the 2nd inning, delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning and popped
a two-run clout over the fence in the 9th inning.  Detroit had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

Baldwin(1-0) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Charlie
Sweeney(0-1) was the losing pitcher.  He served up 4 homeruns in his 9
innings.  

'He was really impressive today,' Sweeney said of his counterpart.  'Our guys
were just swinging at air.'
