Tom Daly had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Ad Gumbert pitched a complete game as the
Brooklyn Bridegrooms beat the Washington Senators by a score of 11 to 8.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Daly. He doubled in the 2nd inning, tripled bringing in a run in
the 3rd inning, tripled scoring a run in the 5th inning and doubled plating a
run in the 7th inning. Brooklyn kept the pressure on throughout the contest
as they scored in 6 different innings.
The victory went to Gumbert(1-0) who went the distance allowing 8 runs. Win
Mercer(1-2) took the loss. He allowed 14 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
