In a good matchup it was the Chicago White Sox 5, the St. Louis Browns 3 at
White Sox Park.

St. Louis was unable to recover after Chicago went ahead in the 3rd inning
when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits.  St. Louis threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.  

The win was credited to Doc White(1-1) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 3
runs. Jim Scott earned the save, his 1st.  Earl Hamilton(1-2) ended up with
the loss.
