TEAM RISP- Colts: 5 for 17 Colonels: 4 for 20

Center fielder Bill Lange had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Willie McGill allowed
Cap Anson to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Chicago Colts
staged a dramatic comeback over the Louisville Colonels by a score of 10 to 9
at Eclipse Park.

Chicago had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning as they scored
5 runs on 4 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Lange who
quieted the home crowd when he doubled which was good for two runs. The
score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 6 times.

The winning pitcher was McGill(1-3) who allowed 9 runs for the game. Bill
Whitrock(0-1) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk in 1
inning.

After the game, it took a long while before Billy Barnie emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood this
afternoon, as I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a
lot more light-hearted over in the Chicago locker room.'
