WEB GEMS- Top 12th: Tom O'Brien robbed George Davis of a Homerun!

Doc McJames tossed a fine 11 hitter as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New
York Giants in 18 innings by a score of 3 to 2 at Union Park.

Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Baltimore
pulled the game out in the 18th inning. After an out was recorded, Gene
Demontreville drew a walk. Charlie Gettig then fired a sharp breaking ball
that appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it got by him and was
ruled a passed ball. Dan McGann then drew a walk. One out later, Frank
Bowerman came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Joe Quinn stepped into the box and lined a one-base hit resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Baltimore and the 2,516 home town fans in attendance.
Baltimore banged out 19 hits on the afternoon.

McJames(4-0) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Gettig(0-1) was
the loser in relief. He pitched 9 and 2/3 innings allowing 10 hits and 5
walks.
