Doc Scanlan pitched a complete game at Washington Park as the Brooklyn
Superbas beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 1.

Brooklyn scored 4 runs in the decisive bottom of the 6th inning when they came
up with 4 base hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Phil Lewis who
excited the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Brooklyn
totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Scanlan(2-1) who allowed 1 run for the game. The loss
was charged to Togie Pittinger(0-2).  He gave up 5 runs and 8 hits in 8
innings.
