Home Run Baker cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Shibe Park where the
blistering-hot Philadelphia Athletics beat the Washington Nationals by the
score of 7 to 2.

Baker enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He clubbed a two-run home run in the
1st inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 7th inning.  Philadelphia had 10
hits for the afternoon while Washington had 6.  

Eddie Plank(3-0) allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Chief Bender preserved the game for Plank, recording his his 1st
save.  Walter Johnson(1-3) suffered the loss.  He was touched for 3 homeruns
in his 8 innings of work.  

In another of a string of victories, Philadelphia extended their winning
streak to 8 games. Connie Mack held court after the contest, 'Everything is
coming up aces right now.  It is important for our team to ride this wave as
long as we can.  Every win is important.'
