WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Ducky Hemp robbed Cap Anson of a Homerun!

Mike Sullivan tossed a complete game at West Side Park as the Chicago Colts
staged a comeback win over the Pittsburg Alleghenys by the count of 9 to
8.

Chicago had the game winning rally in the 9th inning when they tallied 5 runs
on 5 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Walt Wilmot who made the crowd
happy when he smacked a three-run homer. Despite scoring in 5 separate
innings, Pittsburg could not get the win.

The win was credited to Sullivan(2-1) who went the whole way allowing 8 runs.
Henry Jones(0-1) was the losing pitcher. Chicago scored big getting 9 runs
off him in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Cap Anson was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim
there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans -
they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
