TEAM RISP- Cubs: 3 for 18 Tigers: 5 for 14
WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Danny Moeller robbed Jimmy Archer of a Homerun!

Red Smith had 2 base hits at Navin Field as the Detroit Tigers beat the
Chicago-NL Cubs 8 to 7.

Bob Harmon(2-1) pitched okay, well enough for the win. He was reached for 11
hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA from 4.54 to 4.22.
Chicago-NL tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Jack Warhop was credited with his 1st save. Larry Cheney(4-1) absorbed the
loss. He was unable to control the Detroit offense and allowed 9 hits and 5
walks in 5 innings.

Jim Murphy was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
