Herm Wehmeier went 8 solid innings at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics beat the Boston-AL Red Sox in 11 innings 2 to 1.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  Philadelphia-AL
came out the victor in the 11th inning.  Luis Aloma doubled.  Elmer Valo came
to the plate and was walked intentionally.  Gene Woodling then laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Mel Queen then let a pitch get away from him making
Philadelphia-AL the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
Philadelphia-AL finished with just 3 hits in the victory.  

Aloma(1-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Lou Brissie(2-2)
absorbed the loss in relief.  His ERA ballooned from 2.03 to 2.30 as he
allowed 1 run in 1/3 of an inning.
