Shortstop Roy McMillan had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Brooklyn Dodgers won a
heart-stopping victory over the Philadelphia-AL Athletics, 2 to 1.

The deciding run was scored by Brooklyn in the 9th. After an out was
recorded, Jackie Jensen lashed a single. Jensen then stole second base. Vic
Wertz then was walked intentionally. Whitey Lockman was next to bat, but he
was a strikeout victim. McMillan stepped into the box and doubled making
Brooklyn the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Brooklyn
rapped out 8 hits for the night.

The win was credited to Clem Labine(2-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Mike Garcia(4-2) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 8 hits and
4 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.
