Second baseman Bid McPhee hit 2 doubles as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Cleveland Spiders in 10 innings by the score of 5 to 3 at League Park.

The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Cincinnati ended up winning it in the
10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Germany Smith initiated the scoring
spurt when he doubled.  One out later, Jim Keenan came to the plate and
ripped a one-base hit, and an error was also committed, knocking in a run.
McPhee then doubled scoring the final run of the inning.  Cincinnati finished
with 15 hits in the victory.  

Tony Mullane(2-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 9 innings and allowing
3 runs. Mullane was helped out by Billy Rhines who recorded his 1st save.
Henry Gruber(1-2) took the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 15 hits and 4
walks in 10 innings.
