Klondike Douglass had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Robison Field as the St. Louis
Browns won a thriller over the Cleveland Spiders in, 9 to 8.

The deciding run was scored by St. Louis in the 9th.  Douglass ripped a
single.  Tommy Dowd next to the plate and he stroked a single.  After an out
was recorded, Roger Connor then drew a walk to load the bases.  Fred Hartman
came up and he laced a one-base hit making St. Louis the winners and sending
the 1,668 fans home happy.  St. Louis had 13 hits for the afternoon while
Cleveland had 10.  

Bill Kissinger(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Mike McDermott(0-2) was charged with the loss.  He was knocked
around pretty good, giving up 9 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
