In a dramatic ending at Baker Bowl the Philadelphia-NL Phillies won in their
last at-bat beating the Detroit Tigers by the count of 8 to
7.

Philadelphia-NL scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  Claude Ritchey
singled.  John Titus came to the plate and ripped a base-hit.  Titus took
second on the throw.  After an out was recorded, John Anderson then laced a
single making Philadelphia-NL the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful.  Detroit was out-hit by Philadelphia-NL, 14 hits to 11.  

Barney Pelty(6-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Red
Ames(2-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in 1/3 of
an inning.
