Rube Marquard went 11 solid innings as the St. Louis-AL Browns defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics in 12 innings 2 to 0 at Shibe Park.

The game was a scoreless tie after nine.  St. Louis-AL won it in the 12th
inning.  Larry McLean opened up the inning nicely when he lashed a single.
Jack Barry next to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  After
another out, Lee Magee then drew a walk.  Olaf Henriksen followed next and he
stroked a one-base hit scoring a run.  Clyde Milan came up to bat and stroked
a single scoring the final run of the inning.  St. Louis-AL totaled 8 hits on
the afternoon.  

Marquard(5-4) went 11 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Marquard was
helped out by Claude Hendrix who recorded his 12th save.  Barney Pelty(3-2)
ended up with the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 1 hit in 3 and 2/3
innings.  

With this win, St. Louis-AL has a 24-20 record.  They have been 4-6 lately.
With the loss Philadelphia-AL now has a record of 24-16.
